The Knitting and Stitching Show has become a key attraction for schools and colleges. We therefore have put together some useful information below to help you plan your day and make the most out of the various features, projects and galleries we have on offer.

Discount Tickets for School Groups

We offer special rates and a sale-or-return system for those buying ten or more tickets. It's simple, flexible and one of the cheapest ways for you and your school group to come to the show!

Group Ticket Prices

Price per adult £11.00, price per child aged 5 - 18, £6.00.   
If you visit on Wednesday 5th October, we're offering a reduced rate of £10.00 per adult (£6 per child)  

How the System Works

  • Groups can comprise both children and adults.
  • Groups do not need to travel together or even come on the same day. Tickets are sale-or-return beyond a minimum commitment of ten.
  • All tickets are sent to you in sheets of ten but unused tickets can be returned.
  • You simply pay a 50% deposit when booking and pay the balance on the day you visit
  • If you end up using less than ten tickets, you will be charged at the advance adult rate of £14.00 per ticket, £7.00 for children.

The Knitting & Stitching Show is the perfect place for students to learn new craft skills, find creative inspiration and nurture their crafty ambitions! Below is some information about features and workshops we recommend for school parties.

Workshops & Lectures

Groves

The Learning Curve Workshop programme offers a series a one and two hour classes aimed at beginners. Students will need to pay for these - they cost from £12 per person but this includes materials.


Crafters in Action
Crafters in Action offer demonstration stages with drop-in sessions where students can watch and learn various techniques. Subjects include everything from knitting, crochet and beadwork through to embroidery, sewing and weaving. This interactive demonstration feature is aimed at inspiring and educating students as they discover a passion for textile crafts.

Crafters in Action will take place in the Panorama Room at Alexandra Palace. The full timetable will be available soon.


Stitch-by-Stitch


Drop in knitting & crochet sessions:
Alexandra Palace – Palm Court Foyer

Drop in to the Palm Court Foyer and learn how to knit or crochet (or both!).
Projects are free and include bows, flowers, mini bunting and stars with patterns to take away,

Galleries
Every year we offer a selection of carefully curated galleries from the world's leading textile artists covering an aray of discplines. We also host an annual Graduate Showcase where a selection of this year’s textile graduates display the work from their final degree shows which offers a real sense of inspiration for students.

Catering at the Show

There are a number of options for buying food and drink at Alexandra Palace. There is a picnic area accessible via the Panorama Room for those students who prefer to bring their own packed lunches.

Otherwise choose from:

  • The Bar and Kitchen offering traditional pub food.
  • The Palace Restaurant located downstairs, offers hot and cold food and snacks.
  • The Roman Bar Café offering all kinds of snacks and hot meals.
  • A catering point in the Panorama Room for tea, coffee, sandwiches and cakes.

If students wish to leave the venue please ensure they receive a stamp on their hand in order to re-enter the show later.
