Ann Small works from her peaceful Studio on the Hertfordshire and Essex Borders, surrounded by countryside which often inspires her work. Ann has been working with Layered Cloth for several years and is now ready to share and inspire visitors with all her techniques not only with a magnificent display of work but also with a new book. Pieces from the book will show, first hand, how the effects are achieved
She has presented work for the Knitting and Stitching shows many times and is well remembered for the wonderful tableau “Jabberwocky” inspired by Alice in Wonderland, but on this occasion she is working on her own, showcasing cloth manipulated into wonderful sculptures alongside art wall hangings.
Ann is a talented colourist and her gallery will be alive with coloured landscapes as well as more muted work and her most recent pieces where she has embraced the use of a darker pallet which reflect the fact that she now spends some of her time in London. The work incorporates rust and found items discovered in the streets of London.
