Children are very welcome at The Knitting & Stitching Show and there are plenty of activities for children and students to take part in.
UK Hand Knitting drop-ins
Learn the basics of knitting and crochet, including casting on and off and some of the simple stitches. Whatever level your kids are at they can have a go and be shown by the experts. Find them in the Palm Court Foyer (outside the Londesborough Room)
Crafts in Action
The kids can sit and watch demos on anything from upcycling to machine knitting, beadwork to feltmaking.
Many of the workshops in the Learning Curve are suitable for children as long as they have adult supervision. The price is the same as it covers materials and tuition, but there are hundreds on offer. Places sell fast so advance booking is advisable.
Coming with kids that are slightly older? Head to the Creative Living Theatre for demonstrations from craft experts, although these may be better suited to older children (12 plus).
Unfortunately we do not offer a crèche at the show. However there is a softplay within the grounds of the Palace (called Little Dinosaurs); it’s located in a building just down the hill.
There are baby changing facilities within the main ladies toilets.
It’s fine to bring a buggy and the show is on one level, but please be aware the show can be crowded.
To avoid the crowds the best days to visit are Wednesday 11th, Thursday 12th from 3pm – 7pm, or Sunday 15th.
