Fi Oberon will use demonstrations, diagrams and conversation to teach you how and when to use stem, back stitch and French knots following a cow parsley design.

She will cover how to choose suitable fabric for embroidery, the benefits and drawbacks of different types and discuss some methods of transferring designs onto fabric.

Bookers will receive full joining instructions and a session materials list. Plus, there will also be details of patterns, advance preparation guides and links of where kits can be purchased if these are applicable to your session.  

You will need:

hand embroidery
  • 26cm square linen with motif drawn in centre
  • Extra fabric to practice stitches
  • 6 strand embroidery cotton/floss in colour of your choice
  • Embroidery needle.
  • A 20cm hoop if desired, not compulsory

Alternatively, a kit priced £11.45 including P&P is available in the UK which includes Fi’s design, hand-printed onto linen/cotton blend fabric with extra fabric for you to test your stitching plus DMC six-stranded thread in two shades of green and white and an embroidery needle.

About the Tutor: Fi Oberon

Fi Oberon has 30 years’ experience as a designer-maker, artist and tutor. She has developed and led courses on a diverse range of crafts and teaches internationally.

Fi’s most recent work focuses on the use of textiles to explore folk stories and creation myths. She is well known as the author of ‘The Natural World of Needle Felting’ published by Jacqui Small.
