The Embroiderers’ Guild are looking forward to meeting our members, friends and new embroiderers to our two stands this year at Alexandra Palace and Harrogate.
We are bringing together different aspects of our work in an exhibition of ‘Exquisite Containers’.
Each year our members are asked to submit embroidery inspired by a theme. It is an open exhibition where prizes are awarded by a panel of judges in a series of categories which celebrate stitch and design. Each category celebrates a famous 20/21C embroiderers, who has inspired and helped to develop the work of embroiderers, by their work and teaching throughout their lives.
The inspiration for this years’ theme came from The Embroiderers Guild Collection at Bucks County Museum and donations to the collection from well- known embroiderers and collectors
There will be inspiring pieces from our members, needlework accoutrements, bags, purses, boxes etc , on show, which will fascinate and inspire new work for the future, and demonstrate our commitment to study, research and heritage
We will be featuring EMBROIDERY Magazine on our stand in the West Gallery where you can join the Embroiderers Guild and find out more about the plans we have for the future.
We are an educational charity promoting embroidery and textile art, drawing on the traditions of the past to drive the innovations of the 21st century. As well as our exhibitions we have some exciting ‘Must Haves’ on offer this year – visit our stands and be inspired!
