Children are very welcome at The Spring Knitting & Stitching Show, in fact we actively encourage you to bring your little ones and get them involved in craft. There are plenty of opportunities for children of ages to have a go at knitting, crochet, embroidery and more.
Under 5s are free of charge. From 5-18 years, tickets cost £6 in advance or £7 on the door.
Although we don’t have a Children’s area as such, there are a number of things your children will enjoy at the show.
UK Hand Knitting drop-ins
Learn the basics of knitting and crochet, including casting on and off and some of the simple stitches. Whatever level your kids are at they can have a go and be shown by the experts.
Crafters in Action
The kids can sit and watch demos on anything from upcycling to machine knitting, beadwork to feltmaking.
The Inspiration Station
Meet Mr X Stitch and the students from the Royal School of Needlework and have a go at cross-stitch
Many of the workshops in the Learning Curve are suitable for children as long as they have adult supervision. The price is the same as it covers materials and tuition, but there are hundreds on offer. Places sell fast so advance booking is advisable.
There are baby changing facilities within the main ladies toilets. It’s fine to bring a buggy and the show is on one level, but please be aware the show can be crowded. To avoid the crowds the best days to visit are Thursday 2nd March from 3pm – 7pm, or Sunday 5th.
If you are looking to come the show as part of a school party then make sure you take advantage of our discounted group booking scheme.
