Join Jill for a relaxed two-hour session and learn the process of making 3D petals and leaves for your embroidery. You will learn to create 3D wired shapes for future projects, how to insert the shapes into an embroidered background and how to work long and short stitch. 

You will also be shown how to start and finish embroidery threads correctly. Jill will also talk through how to create berries and tendrils.

Suitable for intermediate level (those with some embroidery knowledge).

Materials you will need:

Bookers will receive full joining instructions and a session materials list. Plus, there will also be details of patterns, advance preparation guides and links of where kits can be purchased if these are applicable to your session.  

You will need:

embroidered
  • A piece of calico to fit a 20 cm ring frame
  • A seat stand or table clamp or 20cm embroidery hoop.
  • 50 cm of florists wire
  • DMC threads 470, 472, 552 and 554.
  • Fine silver embroidery thread
  • Hemline textile and craft glue or an equivalent
  • A few cocktail sticks
  • Scrap paper
  • 2H pencil
  • An old pair of scissors for cutting the wire or wire cutters
  • Good quality embroidery needle and scissors
  • Green and purple sewing threads to couch the wire down
  • A pair of flat nosed pliers
  • Jill has created an instruction booklet which includes step by step directions and photographs of how to create the items you will be working on in the workshop as well as instructions on how to create a clematis flower and leaves. This is available at the end of the PDF.

About the Tutor: Jill Kipnis

Jill Kipnis feels passionate about all aspects of embroidery. She runs workshops on most aspects of embroidery and loves helping people create something individual and unique. 

Jill trained at The Royal School of Needlework and gained a BA Hons in Textiles/Fashion and has a strong understanding of design, as well as good technique and she believes this is the foundation to all good embroidery.
