Sew your Own Sweatshirt

In this fun and practical workshop, Sewing Bee 2019 winner Juliet Uzor will take you step-by-step through making a comfy and casual sweatshirt, using a brand new pattern from Tilly and the Buttons.
We will be making version 1 of the Billie pattern, a classic sweatshirt with crew neckline, cuffed straight sleeves and hem band (UK sizes 6-24). It’s the perfect snuggly top for the winter! You will learn how to construct the sweatshirt from start to finish on a regular sewing machine (no overlocker required).

You will need:
- Billie sweatshirt pattern by Tilly and the Buttons, priced at £15.50, from https://shop.tillyandthebuttons.com/products/billie-workshop – password SEWBILLIE
- Sweatshirt fleece or French terry fabric, 140m wide (56”) – UK size 6-14: 1.5m (1 3/4yd) / UK size 16-24: 2.3m (2 1/2yd)
- Optional: 0.6m (5/8yd) jersey ribbing for cuffs, hem band and neckband if main fabric has less than 20% stretch
- Matching thread
- Sewing machine and basic tools, incl ballpoint machine needle (a walking foot can be helpful)
