Richard Box: 60 Years in Textiles

Richard Box is a textile artist, painter, embroiderer, teacher, author and art historian who celebrates 60 years in textiles in 2024. We are delighted to showcase a selection of his life’s work at The Knitting & Stitching Show in Alexandra Palace this year, with pieces dating back from the 1960s through to the 2000s and beyond.

We are excited to bring a collection of Richard’s textiles to Alexandra Palace in a celebration of his incredible contribution to embroidery, paint and stitch. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet the artist and enjoy 60 years of his artwork.

Richard’s work hangs in several public and private collections in the UK and abroad, and he has been a regular exhibitor at The Knitting & Stitching Show for over 30 years.

Although past the ‘official’ retirement age, Richard aims to continue to develop his artwork as long as he is capable. He also continues to lecture and teach, running courses in drawing, painting and his unique approach to textile art which combines fabric collage with both machine and hand embroidery.
